Finders Hall of Fame

These are the folks… that by luck or by skill have managed to uproot a Geo-Box from its hiding place and along with that honor they have earned a spot in the Finders Hall of Fame. Here are their photo’s and comments about finding a Bucket & Boomer Geo-Box.

Ted & Caroline P.

Found Geo-Box #31 also known as “The Hanging Tree” we thought this one would be very hard to find, but once again we were proven that no Geo-Box is safe!! Here Is their story….

“We went out Friday nugget shooting up Last chance from the lake bed
side and decided the rock gardens were a little much for the
afternoon. Drove over the hill on mesquite and poked around blueberry
hill and didn’t find that one. This morning we were determined to find one,
we stopped at the auto graveyard, we looked and looked there ( Caroline had
a few choice words for those boys as she says) The cars were a little re arranged
and a few were gone”.

Ted P. and Geo-Box #31 “The Hanging Tree”

“Not able to give up the quest for today we went on to the canyon made the right turn and started looking for the Hanging tree. I liked that view, so we stopped to get a few pictures and there the tree was laying on it’s side. So I dug and Caroline looked for cool looking rocks, 3 holes later I decided to move that rock right there and found the elusive geo-box. Thanks for a completely different reason to be 4wheelin and enjoying the desert scenery. Lots of pictures and a walk through the Schmidt Tunnel makes for a great day! Thanks again”.

Thanks Ted and Caroline for yet another great story, glad you had fun!!…..”Those Boys”

Found Box # 21 also known as “The Last Box” because of the order in which we hid them….it was last. Here’s how his adventure took place……

Well, it took me 3 trips to do it but I finally found one of your boxes. The first time out, I found that a 4X4 would probly be the only way up the washes etc. so I headed back to Thousand Oaks to bring my son’s 4×4 to resume the search. We made a stop at Jawbone Ranger station and picked up a map and they also showed us another way to get up to the Tunnel. We made it to Schmidt’s Tunnel, walked through it and then dug where we thought it might be located but no luck, so we went home empty handed again. This morning I got up early and headed out there again, but this time I first made a stop at Bickel Camp and found Mark giving a few riders a tour. I waited for him to finish speaking to them and when he approached me, I asked him if he was the keeper of the “Last Box” ? He appeared surprised and told me he was. I asked him if I may have it and he said if the donation is right. I was going to put some money in the donation box anyway so I gave him a generous donation and he retrieved the box from a green old trailer, all the while these riders are now watching what we are doing and see him give me the box. So they asked what this was all about and Mark and I explained to them about your video, which they were now going to purchase for themselves. I took a couple pictures of Mark with the box and then one of the riders took one of Mark and I with the box. So all in all, it was quite an adventure and perseverance paid off. I hope you keep up the tradition. Mark said the box had been there close to a year now !! Thanx again, Tom

“WOW!!! Tom, now that was a great story….Here’s the photo of us, with Mark taking possession of the Geo-Box in November of 09′ . Bucket & Boomer’s Prospecting Adventures cant thank Mark Aslin (caretaker at Bickel Camp) enough for being the keeper of this Geo-Box. Mark really is a great guy so stop by and see him!!!”

A geo cacher from Los Angeles, Ca.  Found Geo-Box # 37, nicknamed(“the doorway to hell”) removed a shirt and the Crazycharlie CD and as a geo cacher does…put the box “back into play”  Here’s what he said…

“I found the box you hid in Last Chance Canyon several weeks ago. I was back there on Saturday and brought tools with which to open it. Very cool. I took some stuff and left some other stuff.  Your “cache” was quite a surprise!! The box we found was truly a work of art. Very well made. I really liked the miter joints. I do not know how long the box was out there, but it could have lasted for many years. The contents were pristine, though there was a bit of a musty smell.”

Tammy & Robert V.

Prospector’s from northern California. Found Geo-Box #18 nicknamed (“The campsite Bee”) and here is Roberts reaction to the find…

Tammy & Robert V.“Bucket and Boomer, I found you by doing a web search after we found a geo box of yours in Last Chance while metal detecting and dowsing. Thanks for the cool stuff in the geo box, not like anything we have found before! You have put some thought into the box and some money into the stuff in the box. You did not leave any info on what to do with the box, do we keep it or rebury it? My wife and daughter said to let you know that the game is on.

We went out looking for Gold and found a box of clothes and a cool CD ! ! LOL Thanks now my 16 year old daughter wants to go clothes hunting in the desert and not the malls!! I took a picture of my wife and daughter with the box, if you would like to see it let me know how to get it to you.
Thanks again for the stuff, it was a great find!! We were surprised to find something other than a bullet or gold, and then floored when we opened it!!!”
